The Blown-In Blanket System (BIBS) is one of the newer and better performing insulation products that Valley Energy Specialist provides for new construction. It fills every void in the cavity that fiberglass batts just can't match up with. In 2×4 walls a typical fiberglass batt will give you an R-13, but because the BIBS system is blown into a cavity that is held together by a vapor barrier cloth, the density of the cavity gives you an R-15! In 2×6 walls typical batts give you an R-19 compared to an R-23 with the BIBS system.
BIBS is most commonly installed in walls but it can be installed in a variety of places as well. It also gives you better sound, won't settle over time, and will perform excellent for the lifetime of the home. Plus it isn't that much more than your typical fiberglass batt insulation and is definitely cheaper than going with foam.
